Dr Marieke completed her medical studies at the University of the Free State. She followed this with her internship at Groote Schuur Hospital and then community service in Kimberley.

Dr Marieke then returned to her hometown of Port Elizabeth and, after working in the field of haematology for three years, joined her father and uncle at Greenways Medical Centre. She maintains a special interest in haematology and oncology, but also has a passion for prevention of disease.

Managing chronic diseases in practice, have led her to find a solution for the biggest contributor, which is systemic inflammation caused by obesity.  That led her to develop a weight management program called Nouveau Clinic.
